Description
About the Role: Castle & Cooke Hawaii is seeking a seasoned, business-minded attorney to step into a high-impact Senior Counsel role supporting a dynamic portfolio of work across Hawaii. This is a temporary, benefits-eligible position designed to support priority organizational initiatives and ensure continuity of trusted legal counsel.
Why This Role: You will sit close to the work that matters—partnering with leaders and team members, shaping practical solutions to complex issues, and helping move priority initiatives forward with sound judgment and speed. If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and being a true business partner (not a back-office reviewer), this role offers a unique opportunity to make an immediate contribution.
In this role, you will operate as a pragmatic advisor, providing guidance across corporate governance and compliance, real estate and land use, construction and design professional agreements, financing/structuring, intellectual property, and other fast-moving legal matters. You will also be hands-on in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements and instruments (including contracts, leases, conveyance documents, and financing instruments), coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel, and supporting priority strategic initiatives, including diligence-style review and issue-spotting for complex transactions.
Work Status: Temporary / limited-term, benefits-eligible. The duration of this position is dependent on business needs and priorities; there is no guaranteed end date, extension, or conversion.
Requirements
About You: We want to hear from you if you are:
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Hawaii (including the ability to appear before Hawaii state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii) and have at least 10 years of demonstrated professional experience that meet the requirements of the role.
- A confident, calm advisor who can translate legal complexity into practical guidance and help leaders and team members make smart decisions at speed.
- Skilled in drafting and negotiating contracts in a contract-heavy environment (real estate, construction, financing, and governance experience are strong pluses).
- Comfortable supporting complex transactions and strategic initiatives, including diligence-style document review, issue-spotting, and stakeholder-ready risk summaries (preferred).
- Organized, thorough, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards and strong relationships.
- Collaborative and effective in a dynamic, multicultural environment; able to partner with executives, internal teams, outside counsel/consultants, and community stakeholders.
About Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $145,000 to $180,000 per year (commensurate with experience). This range represents the initial pay range and does not reflect the full salary range for this position.
For qualifying employees, we offer 401(k) participation, dental insurance, health insurance, parking, disability insurance, employee assistance program, employee discounts, flexible spending account, life insurance, tuition assistance, nonprofit donation matching, and paid time off (among other benefits).

The legal team plays an integral role in enabling that work—helping the team navigate complexity, manage risk, and move priority initiatives forward with clarity and integrity.
